Peanut is a rising 5yo bay gelding currently standing 14hh. He is Dartmoor x TB however his breeding is unrecorded.
He was broken in May last year by us and has been slowly and carefully produced during the time that we have owned him. He has also recently had an 8 week holiday to mature and is now back in work.
He is good to hack both alone and in company, will go first or last and hasn’t been phased by any traffic we have met with him. He can jump at silly things out hacking but has never done anything more than this and nothing more than you’d expect from any young pony. He is also fantastic in open spaces and is never strong or silly.
Peanut has nice paces and can work in a lovely outline. Due to his age he hasn’t been drilled in the school so is still a little green and needs to continue his education as you would expect with any young pony.
Peanut loves his jumping and was a natural from day one. He hasn’t been phased by fillers and has been to some Club jumping at Chard jumping clears at 60 and 70 with both myself and a 12yo child. Whilst at the show he was impeccably behaved, easy to deal with and happy to stand on the lorry when needed. He has also jumped round some slightly bigger courses at KSEC clear round jumping and has scope to jump higher.
He has also been to Pontispool to see some cross country fences and again was very sensible in open spaces and wasn’t strong or silly and happily popped over all of the jumps we asked him to.
He has also enjoyed a morning out Cubbing with the EDH. Although he did find it a little exciting for his first time out so he didn’t want to stand still for long periods of time but he didn’t buck/rear and was very sensible cantering across fields with the others and popping some rails. This is an area of his that will need a little more experience but think he will be a great hunting pony with some more experience under his belt.
Everything we have done with him he has been snaffle mouth and he is good for the farrier, vet, load, travel, clip and catch and has no vices.
The ideal home for Peanut would be a pony club/competitive home who will continue on his education and get him out and about as he loves having a job to do and seeing the world. We think he could turn his hoof to absolutely anything you wanted him to do although due to his age he is not a first pony and not suitable for a novice.
We are asking £6,250 for a quick sale as he’s coming back in to full work however open to sensible offers as would love to see him go to a competitive home to fulfil his potential and he is based near Cullompton (10mins from J27 of the M5).
