Stunning purebred Lusitano mare

9 years old
16hh 2013 PSL passported Lusitano mare by Bem-me-Quer out of a Raja mare. Ibéria was imported from Portugal in March 2019, where she was produced by Portuguese CCI5* Grand Prix rider Ricardo Wallenstein, who also competed her sire internationally at Grand Prix. Since arriving in the UK, she has continued her schooling under a classical dressage coach with a keen amateur. Ibéria is a forward, sensitive ride best suited to a professional or a competitive amateur that will take the time to get to know her and understand her. As with many horses boasting top bloodlines and serious quality, she can be quirky and tricky, but never nasty. She requires a confident, calm rider that isn’t phased by her confidence wobbles or her sensitivity. The school is her happy place, where she displays correct gaits with a super walk and a beautiful canter. She has established lateral work, with a well balanced counter canter and a change each way. She enjoys popping the odd cross pole, loves polework and cavaletti and enjoys in hand work. She has been to the gallops and cross country schooling a couple of times, which she enjoyed, but this isn’t an area I’m confident in introducing to a horse. She is a dream to lunge and work from the ground. She has no stable vices, turns out quietly (I only turn her out individually with others nearby) and is perfect to handle, groom and for the vet, dentist and farrier. She really does have beautiful manners on the ground. She has been introduced to hacking, but lacks confidence and it’s not her favourite activity (or mine!). She will walk out on our quiet country lanes and is unphased by farm traffic and even artics, but has been known to react to things she doesn’t like, and, due to this, can be unpredictable. With a capable, confident rider and more exposure to hacking, I do believe that she would take to it. She has not competed as it’s not my interest, but she has attended clinics and arena hires, proving sensible in new environments. She loads and travels like a dream on either a lorry or trailer, will stand on the lorry and be tacked up on the lorry. I can confidentially take her out by myself. Ibéria has had some veterinary issues since arriving in the UK and these are reflected in her asking price. No endorsements or exclusions are applied to her insurance as a result of these, and all are resolved. Full disclosure of her veterinary history will be given to suitable applicants. I do have her on Regumate after a persistent follicle caused issues in her last season of 2021, but this is personal choice and, prior to that, she was not on it. Family demands force a very reluctant sale of this much loved mare. Absolutely no dealers, novices, joy riders or time wasters. Ibéria deserves the very best experienced, forever home where her full potential can be realised. She has the potential to go to the highest levels with the right rider, and homes will be thoroughly vetted and references required. This is a real head v. heart decision, so the right home is absolutely essential. For more information, please PM only. Comments will not be followed. £15,000 ONO. Some wardrobe, including rugs, brushing boots etc, available for additional price. Based West Sussex with excellent trial facilities.
