- The most kind and loving gentleman I’ve had the pleasure of meeting … meet Dexter. Dexter stands at 16.1hh, 14yo, bay gelding, ISH type. We bought Dexter at the start of this year as a ‘step up’ for my mum from her very ploddy cob. Dexter has certainly done a fantastic job, and really bought on my mums confidence. However, he’s done slightly too good a job and now mum wants to be out jumping regularly and take it further and further. As much as dex will do the job, he’s not an out and out jumper. He enjoys so many other things, rapacious hacking, funrides, hunting, beach rides, and loves a bit of dressage. Prior to coming to us Dexter had been a hunt hireling horse. He’s used to being ridden by several different riders of different capabilities and know the hunt job very well. Dex works beautifully on the flat. Easy to collect together, off the leg, very comfortable paces, balanced and straightforward. He is never strong but isn’t a kick a long either. Dexter has produced some beautiful dressage tests as well as picking up ribbons in the show ring. Dexter happily jumps show jumps and cross country up to about 80cm. He has done several riding club lessons, clinics, and shows. Hacking is a favourite for Dexter. Not phased by traffic at all, happy to hack along busy rides. Regularly hacks out alone as well as being the perfect gentleman in company. He is never silly, so reliable and always brings you home smiling! There’s not really enough i can say about this horse to do him the justice he deserves. Exceptional mannerisms on the ground , in and out of the stable , Dexter is the perfect gent. The children drag him in from the field with just a rope around his neck … stands all day to be brushed and bathed etc. doesn’t even require a head collar on to be clipped. He is up to date with absolutely everything. No vices … Come and meet him …. You won’t be disappointed.
