12.2 chestnut gelding Welsh B, 15 years
Cracker has been part of our family for the last 2.5 years and has taken our daughter from just off the lead rein to fully independent riding.
He has a wonderful personality and is a real people lover. He follows us around the field and loves kisses and cuddles. He will pull your cap off and chew your laces! We will really miss him but the time has come for my not so little one to move to the next height.
Cracker has done Lead rein pony classes, first ridden classes and working hunter. He is very handsome. Bright chestnut in the summer and more liver in the spring and autumn. Lovely markings. He has wonderful paces and would excel at dressage. I’ve occasionally schooled him myself and he is like butter in your hands and with the right impulsion is easy to ride into an outline. My daughter has been learning to ride more from behind so he is building a nice top line. We haven’t pushed it but have let her learn herself as she has progressed. He has a beautiful canter and is easy to make transitions. I wish he was a hand or two bigger.
My daughter has done jumping with Cracker including grids, bounces and courses. He has a scopey jump but needs confidence over spookier jumps. On the lead rein he follows over everything and for a small course he happily trots over if your child only wants to trot! We had a more confident rider jump him over a 60 cm course at a show and at home my daughter will jump up to about 80cm.
He happily lunges. Very voice receptive.
He loves to travel in a lorry or trailer and is happy in any direction forwards, backwards or herringbone.
He is good to groom, catch, bath, spray etc. He enjoys a hack and we regularly canter in open spaces including the beach.
The negatives- sedation to clip and do teeth (I do both at the same time!) although I feel he has got loads better clipping so may not in the future. Cracker is not easy to worm by syringe as he can rear when he sees it! Either worm in his feed (typical Welsh will eat anything) or persevere as we did but his old owner never warned me so I went straight in! He has reared with my daughter in the past ( not for over a year now). I am a completely honest owner and want to find the right family for Cracker as we adore him and so want his full history to be known. If I thought he was not safe I would never have kept him or put my daughter on him.
He rides and leads perfectly off my 16hh horse including in canter.
Cracker was in the pony club with his previous owners Milton Keynes area. He was with them around 2 years so he hasn’t been passed around but sold when he is outgrown.
We will really miss this little Cracker. With a confident rider I would expect him to go affiliated dressage or jumping.
5* home please where he will be loved like we love him.
Any questions please ask.
