11 years old
Part Bred New Forest Pony
Pony Club and All Rounder
This is a very difficult advert to write, as if our circumstances were different, we would not be selling this pony as she is definitely my daughter’s heart horse and will be missed by us all. Unfortunately, my daughter’s legs have grown too long and she is now in need of a bigger pony. Sky is a much loved 13.1 11-year-old part bred new-forest pony. She was purchased around 18 months ago from a riding school as a confidence giver for my daughter, after my daughter’s confidence was knocked by a larger pony. Sky prefers a varied life. She currently regularly participates in rallies, clinics, cross country training, hacking, fun rides and also enjoyed mounted games training. My daughter took Sky away on Pony Camp last year and has several planned for this summer so Sky will not be available until at least mid-August. Sky has participated in dressage, show-jumping, cross country and hunter trials. She was fabulous on her first trip to the beach and also enjoyed agility obstacles recently. She hacks in company but is not confident on her own. She is currently stabled overnight but also enjoyed living out all year at our previous yard. Although my daughter has jumped Sky over a metre at home, Sky is happy jumping courses of up to 70cm at shows and is most confident at 40/50/60. She has won many red rosettes in all disciplines. She also has many qualifications in different disciplines for the Hicksted Sunshine Tour. My daughter has complete trust in Sky and would not hesitate to ride and jump her without tack in the school or vault on and canter her across a field in a headcollar and lead rope. Despite this, Sky is quirky, can be stubborn and is not a novice ride. She does do the odd excitable buck, but nothing that worries my daughter or ever unseats her. She is not everybody’s ride and needs a confident small rider who will take time to build a bond with her, to get the best out of her, like my daughter has. She can be marish at times, but my daughter handles her confidently. She is good to clip, for the farrier, for the dentist, for the vet and she is also good to load once she is familiar with the box and the routine. She prefers to travel and be turned out with company. Sky is currently barefoot and is up to date with vaccinations and worming. She will come with rugs and a bridle. Saddle available at extra cost. The right home is the most important thing for us. A good home, where we can keep in touch is important as this is a heart-breaking sale and we will be sad to see her go.
