Dressage: he has three lovely paces always scoring high 60’s- low 70’s in tests. He knows basic laterally movements (leg yield, shoulder in, counter canter etc.) however, will only perform these with a capable rider (doesn’t do any more than he’s asked!) he competes novice level dressage but schools to elementary level. He’s a very good confidence giver and steps down for a rider trying to learn but will also take it up a notch if you’re wanting to go out and win!
Showjumping: he is always consistent in his rhythm, never gets strong or silly. Dave might have a look at the occasional filler but all it takes is a little encouragement and he will happily pop over. He’s the same horse out at comps as he is at home. He has previously jumped 1.20’s but is more comfortable jumping 80’s/90’s and 100’s.
X-country: he is a machine x-country and absolutely loves it. Again, never strong or silly. Having done a year of hunting before coming to me, he is very reliable and brave. He will jump steps, water, ditches. Nothing phases him! He’s currently competing in unaffiliated 90 events but is capable enough to do affiliated.
Dave is a lovely horse to have on the yard and is very easy and settled. He’s ridden by a petite rider and never takes advantage. At competitions he never changes and can be easily handled by one person. He’s good with the farrier, dentist, clipping, loading, the list goes on.
