- RHONDDA John Smith, Section D 14.3 registered gelding. Rising 15. Moves nicely, currently ridden by 13 yr old daughter. Very sad sale. Strengths: He has been to pony rallies, rides well on his own or in company, can be ridden out by novice riders, excellent with vet and farrier, nice dressage test. Easy to groom and bath and is a genuine friendly horse. Has guided his rider through pony club tests. Loves hacking, and great in open spaces. calm out and good with traffic. Will go first or last. Lovely flatwork. Weaknesses: Better suited for an experienced rider for jumping and polework as he is very forward in this discipline, and can be strong when showjumping. Anxious loader. this has improved since we had him (he travels most weeks now) and is not an issue if loading without a partition. Travels well. Sweet itch is a problem on our land (we have lots of midges) he has to be under a sweet itch rug in the summer and is manageable. Reason for sale is that the rider (13 yr old) wants to compete at jumping and John is too much for her in this discipline (and only with this discipline). He will be sadly missed as he is lovely to handle otherwise. We will only sell to the right home. He is ridden out frequently, therefore if you are interested and want to see something specific. E.g transitions, tacking up, loading or jumping we can send videos on request. Must be a very good home.
