- 11yo 16.1 bay gelding Bertie is every amateurs dream horse. He’s competitive in all three phases, loves hacking/fun rides/hunting and is a pleasure to look after. Bertie started life as a show horse. He was hugely successful, competing at HOYS, but sadly a splint ended that career (this does not affect him in any way). He then started his eventing career and took to it like a duck to water. He absolutely loves it and has proven what a versatile horse he is. On the flat he has three balanced and correct paces with a rocking horse canter. He regularly scored in the 20s with his best score 22.5 this season. His showing background means he is beautifully schooled and easy for all types of riders. He was only registered BS for the first time this summer and has already had several placings jumping up to Discovery, including a win in the British Novice at the Bicton BS Summer Tour. He is careful, polite and unphased by fillers, he is enjoying starting to jump some bigger tracks. He is an absolute machine cross country. He is straight, honest and absolutely loves it. He easily canters around inside the time at BE90 including finishing Bicton 3day twice inside the time, still full of running at the end. Bertie is the perfect grassroots horse. He is consistent and competitive and is sure to make someone’s Badminton dreams come true. Equally he has more than enough scope and gallop for Novice/2* with a bit more experience. We bought Bertie directly from his breeder so his full history is known. This is a very sad decision but we think it is only fair that he is in a home where he will be kept busy and used to his full potential, which sadly at the moment he is not. Bertie has seen everything in life while still being low mileage so he is ready to give his next rider huge amounts of fun and success.
