Pongo is a 16hh, 10yo, ISH gelding, who is an incredibly competitive eventer and would be a real asset to any amateur rider with Badminton Grassroots in sights. Although he is 10, he is very low milage as he only started eventing this time last year so has many many seasons left in him. He has took to it like a duck to water and is not green in any way. He has had a 1st and 2 2nds out of five starts this season, with much more to give. Dressage comes naturally to Pongo. He has flashy paces, plenty of power and is naturally uphill. He is very eye-catching and judges love him. Dressage is not really my forte, so he is only training at novice level, however, Pongo is very smart and picks up new movements quickly. I think in the right hands he could go far just doing pure dressage. Pongo loves to jump. He has a fantastic technique and never likes to knock a pole. He will always take you in to a fence and is never bothered by fillers. He has done some BS and is very quick against the clock. He is jumping round 1.05m/1.10m at home and finds the height effortless - he definitely has more to give. Pongo is also fantastic across the country. He is always looking for the next set of flags and will never look for an easy way out. He is as bold and honest as they come, and is not bothered by ditches, steps, skinnies or water. Pongo is fantastic in traffic. He will hack alone or in company and often nannies the younger horses out on the yard as he is so sensible. He is safe in open spaces and loves the beach. Pongo is quite a forward going chap. He is responsive off the leg without getting sharp. He is a safe ride who never bucks, bronks or rears and he is not the kind of horse that needs riding everyday. He is a very hardy type who never has a lame day. He has perfectly clean legs and no veterinary history. He is good to do in all ways. Pongo has been competing at BE90 and BS 95cm, however he is ready to step up to 100 immediately. His records can be viewed under 'Cherokee Renascent'. Any blips on his record are all rider error and do not reflect how much of a reliable and consistent horse he is. This is a very sad sale of a much loved member of the family, forced by me moving away to university. Price includes tack and rugs. Cross country videos:
