Description
SEEKING A SPECIAL HOME FOR A SPECIAL BOY Lovely Tommy is a teenage, 14 hand, piebald cob gelding who is very sweet, affectionate, honest and, sadly, on the lookout for his new, hopefully forever, home. With complete transparency here are a few of his quirks and issues … ⭐️ Tommy’s skin around his fetlocks take some management as it can become broken and sore if not kept on top of. Regular washing and clipping, along with daily cream application helps enormously and he’s a very good boy when they’re being treated. ⭐️ Under saddle Tommy is a bit unbalanced and can be a little unpredictable. We believe this is due to a lack of early education and his spookiness seems completely genuine and simply a lack of confidence in himself with a rider on board. He really does need a confident and kind rider to reassure him in the moments when he feels insecure. He’s never going to be a dressage champion but he has enjoyed jumping in the past and we’d love to see him out enjoying life hacking round the fields. He would equally be delighted to just be a big pet and not continue with ridden life. ⭐️ Tommy has displayed separation anxiety behaviours and is particularly tricky around mares. Currently settled turned out in an individual paddock so long as he had others near by. He has previously been turned out in a small herd of geldings which he seemed happiest. Can be put 24/7 as long as he has a companion. Not suitable to be turned out with mares. He’s spent the summer on a professional yard where he has been sympathetically kept in work. Though it took a week or two initially, he’s now settled and happy in his routine. Tommy thrives with a set routine. Do you think you could offer Tommy a new home where he would be understood and loved? This is an extremely heartbreaking sale/re-homing as we are hugely attached to Tommy but have come to realise he’s sadly not the pony for us. Sold to us as a family pony he has become tricky to manage and ride and regrettably, we no longer feel we’re the right family for him. The right home with kind, confident and knowledgable handlers is the most important factor for us and far far more important than any price. For more info please get in touch.
