15.2hh approx, 9 year old registered connemara gelding with good breeding Silver Shadow, Dunloughan Troy, Curracgmore Cashel lines.
Full history known, old owner was an older lady who used him for hacking, pleasure rides and hunting she brought him straight from Ireland 5 years ago.
Since being with us Tommy has done a bit of everything. He is good on the flat, loves his jumping, xc and been to arena hires. He’s also been hunting a few times with us with the Warwickshire and also the farmers bloodhounds and jumps everything in front of him very bold and brave! He’s the type to help the rider out and go on any stride short or long one! Nice well balanced even paces.
My 8 year old has ridden him a few times at home where he’s behaved impeccably and even jumped up to 90cm with her. He’s in a snaffle for hacking schooling jumping ect but hunting he can be a bit stronger so wouldn’t be a child’s hunter unless older/stronger. The girl who has been taking him hunting is 16 and 5ft8 hes a nice substantial lad and does take the leg up well. Will jump anything in his path when hunting even when others have stopped and he has to lead he just gets on with it without any fuss.
Hacks alone and in company and isint phased by any traffic good in open spaces.
He is a nice forward going ride, responsive to the aids and the type to just take you to the fence, very much an allrounder but I feel he would probably excel in eventing or showjumping even team chasing and hunting. He does want to be going to a home where he is out doing the fun competition side of things as he really enjoys this. Would make a fun competant teenagers horse, mother/daughter share or even a adult wanting to go out and have fun on!
Tommy has no vices, he’s easy to have around and handle even the kids (8 year old up) can bring him to and from the field, tack him up groom him ect. Good to clip, up to date on teeth, feet, back, worming and vaccinations. Loads onto a lorry or trailer and is very good to load, he will travel alone or in company.
No bucking/rearing or any ridden nasties, the only negative point about him I can even comment on is when he first came he was nervous to have his feet done behind as the lady who had him before couldn’t pick feet out and just sedated him for the farrier so he never needed to. This is something we have extensively worked on every day since he came for at least 10 minutes a day repeatedly and using positive reward he is much better now and is no longer scared. He has since had his feet done by the farrier (18/12/22) with no sedation needed (can provide videos of this but trying to be as honest as I can be!) we can now put hind boots on him too 😊
No lumps, bumps, splints, sarcoids, melemonas ect.
