Description
DollyMix (Dolly) 12.2 (a big 12.2) 8 years old, Dolly is a compact Irish Cob with good speed but does have has very effective breaks and has always been ridden in a snaffle. Would suit lead rein coming into FR. Currently an active member of the Pony Club and has taken my 9 year old daughter from 20cm to 70cm. when jumping grids, they have cleared 90cm. My daughter and Dolly have qualified for BICTON this year in 40 & 50cm. Dolly is not a push button pony, she is a sweet girl who will teach you how to ride. If you don’t ask correctly then without malice will come to a halt so it does teach you to sit and ask nicely. Great out hacking, not phased by tractors, large trailers, motor bikes, bridges etc. will go first or last. She will happily trot past the other horses and ahead without looking back. She will split from other horses on the hack, we work on this weekly to keep on top of her independence. Happy to evidence this in a viewing. She has also hacked out alone with a small adult on her. Dolly came overall 4th in dressage in residential camp in 2023 and came overall 2nd in 2024. She has a lovely outline and great movements and would really excel in this in her future. Dolly loves to jump and really shines at showjumping. She is a speedy cob and has fantastic scope. It would do Dolly good to keep up with grid work sessions which is one of her favourite things to do. Dolly loves Cross Country and has completed hunter trials and XC clinics and camps. She has gone from strength to strength but would benefit from continuing with her education in this area with a keen little jockey so that her confidence can continue to grow. We have attended a Mounted Games ‘have a go’ session and had a go at PC camp. She was good.. but being a cob she really isn’t built for it but she was safe and gave it her all and my daughter had a great time doing it. We have taken Dolly out on hacks up Salisbury Plain when I have been on my mare and Dolly was a saint. We have also attended a mock hunt and even with others galloping past, Dolly still had breaks and slowed when asked to do so by my daughter. We also attended pony racing at Wincanton in 2024 and although not a world beater she was impeccably behaved, safe as houses and came a respectable 6th place out of 12. Dolly is always in ribbons in in-hand shows, she always catches the judges eye and turns heads. We have had the best time with Dolly and wish we could keep her but my daughter is tall and is ready to move onto a new challenge, Dolly would be wasted and bored here and needs to brighten someone else’s life. As all horses and ponies have, Dolly does have one negative and hers is that every now and then Dolly will try to get her own way and will spin on her back feet, this has only happened in a XC Pony Camp scenario when Dolly has got attached to other ponies that she has spent days with. I don’t know why as she doesn’t do it anywhere else it is the same venue that seems to upset her. I am happy to prove how good she is at being ridden away from my mare during any face to face viewing. Dolly does like to winter at night in her stable with her treat ball but lives out 24/7 in the summer. We have always been sensible with her grass and has never had laminitis. She is barefoot with good feet. She can live in a herd or individual turnout. Dolly did have a surprise foal when she came to us and we believe possibly one before that too. This did delay Dolly’s PC career but she is absolutely flying now. She has absolutely no medical issues and is open to any full vetting. She is up to date with teeth, vaccines and feet. Her most recent saddle check by Cirencester Saddles (Master Saddler) is 17/08/24. She is good to load a trailer and lorry, farrier, etc but I think may have been overly twitched in her first home so although is ok with being clipped, she needs either a little more patience with her face or some mild oral sedation. I am practicing frequently with liveryman trimmers around her face, she has improved greatly so I think she just needs a bit of patience and trust and she will be fine. Again I am happy to show this at a viewing Dolly will come with her tack and rugs. She has her saddle checked roughly every 3 months by Cirencester saddles. The saddle is a 15.5 inch Kent and masters which fits her well and she is happy and comfortable in. £6000 incl tack
