Hovis (Bronheulog Hovis) was bought for my very nervous 9 year old nearly 4 years ago. He has restored her confidence and bought her on from trotting around 30cm to confidently jumping 90cm. He is well schooled and performs a very decent dressage test, I feel he would easily go up through the levels. He has a scopey jump and has popped 110cm at home.
Sadly, we didn't get everything he is capable of out of Hovis as we bought him in 2020 and there wasn't a lot going on competition wise for the next year....by the time my daughter turned 12 and was starting to really get going with him she was 5'5" and too big for him!
Hovis will step up or down for his rider and potter around a 50cm or step up and forward for a rider that takes hold of him more. He has fabulous paces and always gets compliments when out.
I had hoped we would have him for years and years but despite having 4 girls, only my eldest is really interested and he is genuinely too good to keep for occasional 'around the blocks'. He is however handled by all the children - even my 6 year old who rides him occasionally for a hack off the lead rein. He is 100% with clipping, loading, farrier, teeth etc. Good in traffic. His only 'vice' is that he pulls a grumpy face but he doesn't ever do anything more than that! He actually loves a cuddle!
