- 14hh skewbald 8year old Welsh cross mare Apache is a typical 2nd pony and not for a novice. She works well in the school with lovely paces, She loves to jump coloured and natural fences with ease and does pick up the pace a bit and has done a nice 60-70 with us the bigger it gets the better she jumps,? Haven’t had the rider to see where/what height she can go but has shown great scope So think she would easily jump bigger- would be a fab hunt pony as she adores hacking also. When she goes out to events she sometimes gets excited, but it’s purely excitement nothing malicious until she settles which is usually after 10 minutes but in this time she needs that confident person to ride her through it not hold her back which makes her fizzier. We have been to arena hires, pole clinics, pony club, show jumping xc hire, gallops, pole clinics so has travelled about quite a bit. Absolutely loves hacking in company or alone with a confident rider and is perfect in traffic not phased by bikes or dogs etc. she was sold to us as an ideal perfect kids first pony which she is not so please no novices. Apache tests her riders- she may nap have a bunny hop cow kick (nothing major). But on the flip side she is so much fun- week just gone she was jumped, ridden with no reins in canter while hedge trimming was going on behind the fence line of the arena, hacked on the common for a few hours with a young teen, my children have ridden her bareback in the field, done rolly pollys off her bum and she’s such a lovely character and wants to have fun. She’s a fab cracking pony just sadly not right for us, and if our sharer was in a position to buy she’d have her in a heartbeat! She is an excellent good doer to keep costs down-always been kept barefoot trimmed every 10-12 weeks as has great strong hooves, lives out happily with mares or geldings although happy enough in a stable also, perfect to catch and lead. She’s well behaved to clip, bath, load, dentist, physio and all up to date Based in Surrey
