- Due to a change in career, Coppers owner is sadly having to find him a new loving home. 9 YO TB x WB, passport states 15.3hh but measures up nearer 16hh. Copper is a gorgeous and friendly horse with so much to give. He will gallop over to meet you at the gate, whinnying at you as he does. He is good to groom, lead and with the farrier. He’s not spooky, often ridden in high winds with no issue. He is gentle with dogs and friendly with both mares and geldings, loving a good play with them in the field. He has never broken a rug or lost a shoe with current owner. He loves his dinner time and makes the funniest noise when he sees his feed bucket. He loves to jump, being bold and brave to a fence having previously competed unaffiliated SJ, XC and online dressage. He is easy to lunge, long reign and school. He has a lovely flowing walk which gets good comments in dressage and his trot work is coming along beautifully. He has a gorgeous comfortable canter, but this does need more schooling to bring it together for the dressage points. His long stride would do him well in XC and he was bold but sane on his outings with his previous owners. He has hacked out with the previous owner and does not get excited in open fields. With his owner being away with work for long periods and being an inexperienced rider, he has not done much for the last couple of years, so would benefit from a home who can give him more opportunity. He has had professional flatwork schooling and is ready to start moving up the levels in the right hands. Copper’s lower price reflects that he does rely on building trust in his rider and feeds from their confidence. His ‘go to’ fear reaction is to rear but this is manageable with a competent and patient rider who will take the time to build a relationship with him. He was ridden by an inexperienced sharer who used to jump and ride him in the fields once they got to know each other. Copper is currently being weaned off of oral steroids, full disclosure will be made to any prospective buyers to ensure he is set up for success in his new home and career. No dealers please or people expecting a quick turn around profit project as the owner wants to avoid him moving about as he does take time to settle at a new home. Having said all this, for someone looking for an opportunity to build a rewarding relationship with a loving and inquisitive horse, he’s the one! He would love to do liberty type work as will follow you over a jump, round the school and has a great memory for new tricks. If someone out there can give him a new home, he has so much potential to make a great all-rounder. This is a much-loved horse and a heart-breaking sale for the owner so a kind and loving home is a must.
