- Louis is a 10yo gelding standing approx. 16.2hh. After spending the last 2 years with a teenage rider being an all rounder he is now looking for his next partner to enjoy the hunting field with He is currently starting autumn hunting with us where he has been impeccably behaved. He was easy on the box and to get ready, stood like a rock at the meet/whenever he was asked to and was happy wherever he was put in the pack. He wasn’t phased by the hounds either whilst they’re running all around him. We definitely feel like he would be an asset to anyone who is looking for a smart hunter. He is good to hack alone/in company, he will go first or last and hasn’t been phased by any traffic we have met but he does need to take confidence from the rider. He can work nicely in the school but he is very tense until he gets to know you so does require a quiet patient rider to bring the best out of him in this area. He is also a very capable jumper but again is quite tense until he builds his trust in you but provided you are confident in to the jump he will jump anything asked of him. Everything he has done with us he has been snaffle mouth and he is good for the farrier, vet, load, travel, clip and catch and has no vices. He does have a small melanoma on his lip which doesn’t bother him and not affected by any tack We think he would be best suited to a hunting home as this is where we have felt he gets the most enjoyment out of his work. As he does like to take confidence from his rider he is not suitable for novice/nervous rider. The owner is asking £8,000 for him although would consider a sensible offer to ensure the perfect home. He is based with us on livery near Cullompton (10mins from J27 of the M5).
