Description
4yo connemara gelding, a gorgeous bay just a smidge under 15hh with growing to do, should finish at 15.1hh Ready to go out and have some fun with his new partner in crime, I would love to see him pursuing an eventing career because of how athletic, rideable and genuine he is. He can be a classy little eventer or a quality all-rounder He has fantastic performance breeding from Rocklawn Elvis (Silver Shadow) out of a Templebready Fear Bui mare Bracken came to me unbroken at the beginning of the year and has been a very sensible, straightforward and genuine boy since, not once from the first time he had the saddle on he ever bronced, bucked, reared or bolted He has a wonderful steady personality, with a trainable brain and lovely correct, loose paces, he is steady but responsive off the aids that make him a wonderful accurate ride inside the whiteboards. He has potential to be a successful BD prospect but his love is into jumping and cross countrying Bracken has been gradually and slowly produced, and after a small summer break he has just recently came back into work and started to compete Bracken completed his first ODE at Barbury Castle in the most horrendous weather you can imagine, he was thrown in at the deep with very little preparation, having never seen a dressage arena before, only jumped fillers once in his life a few days before the event and having only been cross country schooling once at the very beginning of his education when freshly broken in. Nevertheless he never saw such a big atmosphere as Barbury, with horses and lorries everywhere, flags, banners all in the most awful horizontal heavy rain and wind. He only went and absolutely exceeded all expectations coming home with a 9TH PLACE with a 31dr and a clear cross country. This really shows what a wonderful personality and 'never says no' attitude he has! Such a fabulous hard working youngster. He has been a pleasure to take to his first few outings, he loads and travels well both in a trailer and on a lorry, first or last, ties up to the side of the lorry happily eating on his haynet. He is not worried about other horses in the warmup With an ambitious rider he can qualify for Badminton Grass Routes within a few events and he will love his cross country, he felt completely in his element galloping across the Barbury hills and he didn't question any of the fences Bracken at home is easy as they can be, good to catch, groom, shoe and he ties patiently on the yard. He is a fun hack, good in traffic, on the road and in open spaces, he is very happy to go in front and behind and never strong, he is only ever ridden in a snaffle, he is good to lead from another horse as well as leading off from. Good with traffic, cows, tractors, lorries, cyclists etc.. He is genuine into a fence and very happily jumping 80s and 90s at the moment, with the scope and ability to go further with more time and experience under his belt. He would also be amazing in the hunting field, he happily stops and wait for others out hacking, he does gates and canters on a loose rein. He is brilliant for someone that wants to look the part, have some fun on a genuine youngster and prefers to wrap their legs around their ride rather than having their shoulders pulled out of their sockets, but also experienced enough to appreciate that Bracken is still only a baby, been a few months under saddle even if a very cheerful, kind boy and not a complete plod.
