- Experienced home wanted for ottb with a lot of potential. Azaris raced twice (last race in October 2024) and I have owned him since December 2024. He has had a very gentle introduction into life outside of racing, he was underweight when I purchased him so took the time to build his weight and reeducate him slowly. Since then he has been to a handful of shows, fun rides and arena hires. Very smart looking horse who could potentially go well in the show ring but I have never showed him. Unfortunately my own lack of commitment has led to the decision I would be best finding a new home for him. This is an incredibly hard choice for me, however he is absolutely a horse that thrives off routine and consistency. If not in regular work he does become very fresh and harder to handle on the ground and in the saddle. His ridden work has improved drastically over the past year, although still green he shows serious potential in the right hands. He is a very sensitive soul so needs a rider that will give him confidence but also be able to be quiet and sympathetic. He hacks out alone and in company. Most of the hacking I do is alone and he is fine. He is good on the roads but definitely not bombproof, cars and dogs etc are no trouble but on some days he’ll spook at silly things like road markings 🤣 He loads well 9/10 times, occasionally needs someone just to stand behind him to encourage him on but he is never difficult. I have travelled him solo once and he handled it all well but would definitely benefit from more experience with travelling. I haven’t taken him out for about 6 months now so he may take a few outings to readjust. He was really level headed when I was out regularly but after some time out he was very wary of the new surroundings, again he just needs someone who is able to be consistent with him! He is happy to live in or out, currently out 24/7 in summer and in the winter he stays in overnight. He is shod on the fronts only and I have never felt the need to shoe all round. He is usually the very bottom of the pecking order, he currently is turned out alone but does also do well with company providing the horse is gentle. He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body but he certainly isn’t a straightforward horse. Absolutely not suitable for a novice, he needs someone with good experience with tb’s or young athletic horses generally. I feel like I have rambled on far too long already but I’m sure I have missed bits, please do contact me if you have any more questions about this special boy!
