Description
My beautiful big Kangaroo 🦘 Kanga is a 8yo, 17hh green book Irish Sport Horse. She has a great big heart, massive ears and a beautiful face. Kanga is for sale through absolutely no fault of her own. My big girl shows such willingness in her work but she does now need an experienced and confident rider to continue her education. In the time i’ve had Kanga she’s been schooled extensively, hacked alone and in company, she’s been excellent in traffic, past big lorries and noisy farm machinery, farm animals and on roads. We’ve done a few intro and prelim dressage tests, many flatwork, pole and some jump lessons, long reining, lunging and other groundwork. I believe she was hunted in Ireland in a previous home but I do not have much more information than that. She does have some recent vet history and ongoing monitoring that will be disclosed to serious buyers. I’m pleased to confirm that since i’ve owned her she has been insured under a lifetime policy that can be transferred to her future owner without the need for evidence of a new vet check. That said, vettings welcome. All details can be provided to anyone seeking to make a serious offer. Kanga is on a horse health program and is up to date with vaccines, worming, her teeth are in good condition and she has regular (6-8 week) physio sessions to supplement her ridden work. Her passport, paperwork and vaccine records are all current and her saddle has recently been professionally checked. Kanga lives out 24/7 all year round, but has previously been stabled overnight though we’ve found she much prefers being out. She’s been turned out alone and in company (company being three little ponies) and is quite happy. She loves food(!) salt licks, carrots, polo mints and snoozing in the sunshine. Loads into a lorry and travels well, no knowledge on trailers as we’ve never used one. She’s good to handle, stands well for grooming, for the vet and physio, is easy to catch and will often come walking towards you with her happy face when she sees you coming. All of that said, Kanga is wonderfully intelligent with bright eyes and listening ears - she does however take her confidence from her rider and if she feels unsupported in the school can sometimes side step, scoot forward or nap if she feels unsure of what is being asked of her. This is all quickly remedied with calm, confident and consistent riding then she’s back to work in just a few moments. She’s currently barefoot and has been for the last 12 months or so without any issues, her feet have hardened up nicely and she handles hacking on stony tracks and roads well. She has previously had full set and then just front shoes on but she has historically been tricky during rear shoeing so we chose to take the pressure away and just go barefoot with trims as needed. I would recommend sedation if shoes are required again in future until she can be given time, gentleness and the patience of a good farrier to get used to the process again. For all of the details provided above and due to her sheer size, Kanga is not suitable for a novice or nervous rider. She needs someone with the knowledge and skill to keep her working correctly, continue her education and give her confidence in ridden work. Under an experienced rider she travels beautifully and has such potential. Kanga will come with everything including a Kent & Masters saddle, bridle, rug for every season, boots etc, and a pair of equi-streams that she wears turned out to help promote circulation in her legs. She’s on a small amount of feed whilst in work, details can be shared for consistency. I can’t stress enough how important the right home is for Kanga. I have battled with the decision to list her for months because she is my dream. That said, we are not quite the right match and her potential is wasted with me. She is a wonderful horse with a bright future, she deserves the very best, long-term home with field friends, a gentle and kind owner that can continue her education and build a real partnership and trust, her potential is endless in the right hands and I really believe she will excel. I’m looking for offers over £9k with all her kit and insurance transfer included but open to sensible negotiation for the very best home. Please do not apply if you’re unable to meet all of the needs I have described above.
