Description: This striking 17hh, 9-year-old bay gelding is the ultimate gentleman’s hunter with a heart of gold and bravery to match. The Hunting field is where Charlie belongs – bold, forward and utterly dependable. Leading or following, He will jump anything you point him at, from hedges to rails to ditches, he never bats an eyelid. Whether you prefer to lead from the front or bring up the field, he’s equally happy and stands perfectly at the meet. Charlie is Brilliant with hounds and would make a great huntsman/field masters horse. For the last three seasons me and Charlie have been out regularly with the Cambridge drag hounds. Charlie does not particularly enjoy schooling in an arena, I have not done much of this but I believe he would go really nicely with some work. He moves beautifully out hacking, in a lovely shape and isn’t phased by traffic, open spaces and farm machinery. Charlie is a sensitive boy and takes time to trust new people, he can be a bit of a worrier on the ground- fly spray is very scary! But once he learns to trust you he’ll be your best friend. I’ve owned him for the past 4 years, and he’s been a total joy. We’ve done everything together from beach rides and showjumping to hunting and cross country, as well as nannying youngsters round Hunter trials. He’s the kind that really makes you smile and laugh every day. Charlie is Full of personality, he’s like a giant dog around the yard – loves attention, scratches, and being part of everything. Charlie can be strong at times and sometimes throws in the odd enthusiastic buck when he’s excited to get on with the job, but he’s never nasty or difficult – he’s just a real character who loves to work. Due to work and other commitments, Charlie has not been doing very much for the last few months, he’s been kept ticking over hacking and has had the odd trip out cross country. It’s been a very difficult decision but he really is too special of to not be out doing what he loves. Good to shoe, load, hack, alone and in company.
