- Description
- Dib Dab is a beautiful 16.2/3 thoroughbred gelding who turned 9 in May. He is an ex-racer (ROR eligible) who only raced a handful of times before retiring sound. He then spent some time at Hartpury College with a student before joining us 18 months ago. He has been out of racing for 3 years now. He has been a fantastic mother/daughter share for us but with college looming and a new full time job for mum we just don’t have the time for this beautiful boy anymore.
Whilst with us he has been out to arena hires, fun rides, beach rides, X country schooling, the gallops, lots of hacking and my daughter has had lots of jumping and flat work lessons with him. We have jumped him up to 80cm. He did lots of low level competing (dressage and SJ) at Hartpury with his previous owner but we are not at all competitive so he hasn’t competed with us. He is well schooled but this isn’t something my daughter or I enjoy so we don’t do a lot of it but when he is ridden by someone who does enjoy it he goes beautifully and he has lovely paces.
He will hack out alone or in company and is fantastic in all traffic but when out alone he does take confidence from his rider if he is unsure of something, he won’t do anything silly, he will just stop to take a moment to work things out, but a confident rider can easily ride him on. He is not a novice ride and can be sensitive to an unbalanced or in-experienced rider. He has NEVER done anything silly, nasty or dangerous and my daughter moved straight from her pony on to him, but he can get a little excited and be forward on occasions and do a little jig jog (I have a video of him doing this), so for this reason he does need a confident rider. He can be forward but is definitely safe and is not a spooky horse. He is in a snaffle at all times.
He is great in open spaces, he can certainly shift but has very good brakes! He loads perfectly and travels well. He is currently barefoot (hacks with boots on his fronts). He has been previously shod on all 4 and when he came to us just on his fronts. He can be stabled or live out or a mix of both.
He has been out 24/7 before in the summer but is currently out at night and in during the day. He is totally chilled in the paddock and perfect to catch. He is up to date with dentist/chiro/physio etc. He is easy to handle on the ground and loves a good mutual grooming session. Finding the right home is so, so important to us as we adore this boy and we would definitely like to stay in touch.
He has his bridle, two saddles (a jump and a GP) and lots of rugs which can all be purchased separately.
Lots of photos and videos available.
