Description: Joey, as he is affectionately known is a 16.3hh 12year old gelding. He has three nice paces and is very sweet to handle. He loves his cuddles, toys and treats and travels on a trailer. He is such a character and very playful! He’s very kind and loving which is making this sale extremely hard. I bought Joey as a dressage horse for my daughter as he had previously hacked, done polework, competed medium level dressage and attended BD youth training events squadded at B level. Unfortunately due to injury in June this year, he will not be able to carry on as a dressage horse due to the impact of constant school work and needs a new direction and career for him to enjoy with a new partner. Sadly my daughter just does dressage so we can’t offer him the variety he needs to continue his rehabilitation following veterinary treatment. Joey is now sound and has been reassessed by the vet, but his recommendations are he shouldn’t continue with dressage. Reports from the vet are available to confirm this. He is a very sensitive horse and therefore needs a quiet confident owner and rider. He’s a typical warmblood, competition horse so no novices please. Joey can get anxious, and occasionally get funny about small spaces and needs calm reassurance. He takes his confidence and lead from his rider/owner. Joey can have the occasional buck and spook (easy to sit to but trying to say everything to be totally honest). We were told in his past he had some kind of trauma with a dentist , which has made him head-shy, which we manage easily but with certain routines, like the people we bought him from. This isn’t an issue, just something to manage and be aware of. We are looking for a loving forever home for him where he will be happy learning and enjoying hacking again which will be great for his well-being, and other low-impact disciplines. He is a good doer, easy to keep and happy living out or in. Joey is now ready to begin a new career with someone and will need patience to bring him back into work along with retraining him back to things he’s not experienced for a number of years, due to his life being focused on dressage since he was 7 years old. He’s bought from the field, I doubt he would pass a vetting hence the very low asking price, which is negotiable to the right home for him. Willing to discuss all vet history, low level maintenance as we want the very best for Joey and to find him the perfect partner which is the most important thing. Genuine enquiries only as he has done nothing wrong.
