- Bess is an 11-year-old, 17.2hh ID x Shire mare with experience in hunting, cross-country, showjumping, dressage, hacking, fun rides, and beach rides.
She’s good in every way—excellent with the farrier, dentist, vet, clipping, loading, catching, and mounting. Safe and sensible, but not brain-dead—she’ll still have a look at the odd thing but never does anything silly.
She spent a few years at a college being used by riders of all levels, from beginners to advanced. She’s jumped around 1m courses and higher at home, and is a real confidence-giver over a fence—straightforward and sensible, including across country. She happily canters on the buckle and maintains her pace until asked otherwise.
On the flat, she’s well-schooled and does plenty of lateral work. Despite her size, she’s very compact and rideable—light in the hand and easy to manage. She would suit almost anyone, but particularly a lady rider looking for a big, easy horse. She’s regularly ridden by a nervous rider and a 16-year-old, both of whom adore her for being so safe and fun.
The perfect all-rounder. Home is far more important than price, and I’m open to offers.
