Description: Dorenzo is a polite, kind, sensible horse who loves to hack, and is also good to drive. He is a French Trotter (not Sport Horse, but I had to pick an option and this was the closest fit) who has recently retired from racing. These horses make fabulous pleasure horses when their racing days are over, and are highly prized for their wonderful temperaments and no-nonsense, professional attitudes. Imagine a TB but with better hooves, better brains and thicker skins (metaphorically and physically!)… Dorenzo is not a pacer and cannot pace; he can walk, trot, canter and gallop, but canter transitions need a bit of work. Dorenzo is brave and reliable on roads, fields, beach and open hill, both alone or in company. He is BRILLIANT in traffic, including driving through busy town traffic. Just a lovely horse who would suit a hacking, driving or endurance home. Dorenzo is impeccable on the ground and is easy to catch, shoe, load, wash etc. He can live in or out and is good with other horses. He is forward going so would not suit a nervous rider, but is very uncomplicated. I do also have a similar gelding available who is less forward going but equally sweet and brave. He has not been in a school yet but would be a very rewarding project to introduce to dressage and jumping, which is what we will do if he is not quickly snapped up (price will rise as his education progresses).

After 20 years of racing my own Standardbreds and enjoying a range of ridden disciplines with the same horses at the same time, I have become a huge advocate for the breed. I have great contacts in racing and a lot of experience of the breed.
