For sale on behalf of a client Paddy 16.3 7yo Irish sport horse gelding. He has been with his current owner since a 4yo and looked after like he’s a 5* horse. Hes wanted for nothing with regards to his care. Hes always had regular visits from the farrier, physio and dentist.
Paddy is a super boy with a lovely attitude and has spent most of the last 3 years enjoying an easy time hacking having lessons and a couple of camps. Coming into his 7th year we have decided he needs a more competitive home as his ability in his jump is more than what my client wants or needs.
His jump is by far his strongest phase with a lovely snaffle mouth and a very adjustable stride he’s super rideable into a fence. I have only jumped him for my client a few times to give him variety in his work and I don’t think he’s ever had a pole. He is really careful, scopy and brave and would absolutely excel in showjumping. He’s done training in this phase and I would not hesitate at taking him BSJA straight away which will be the plan if he doesn’t sell quickly.
I have recently taken him over some XC fences in an arena to refresh him after not doing any since last summer and he jumped everything first time. He has previously done XC at a schooling day at Frickley Park horse trails and he’s done some at camps and the farm ride at Somerford park. We haven’t focused on more technical aspects just yet such as corners and skinnies however I cannot see this being an issue for him. This will again be a plan for his future depending on his sale.
His flatwork is coming along nicely. He is ready to go and do some dressage tests. He works in a lovely contact in walk, trot and canter. We are putting in the lateral work and medium steps at the moment and although they are not established they are coming. His counter canter is strong. All this work on the flat is all from just being schooled mostly once a week sometimes twice with my client having a lesson. With more consistency in this area I am confident with his attitude it would come along quickly.
He hacks alone and in company on a regular basis with my client.
He has travelled alone with her on her 4.5 tonne lorry to camps and lessons as well as in my 12.5 tonne with others for training and is perfect on both.
Although he is a good boy he is a sporty horse and we do want a competition home for him ideally in showjumping or eventing with someone that will continue his education and enjoy taking him up the levels. This is the only reason for sale as we feel this is where he would be happiest and adored.
Had X-rays as a 4yo. open to any vetting.
Feel free to contact me for more information however please be patient with regard to my replies as this is not my full time job and I do have two young children. I am selling him on her behalf purely because I really like him.
SERIOUS ENQUIRIES AND VIEWINGS ONLY. This is a difficult decision for the owner.
