- Chilli 🌶️ – 15.3hh Irish Draught Mare
Experienced, knowledgeable home only. She requires a quiet, patient home that understands mares like her.
Chilli is a sensitive mare who bonds closely with her person and thrives with consistency, routine, and quiet handling. She has been out of work since October due to personal circumstances.
When previously ridden out hacking, Chilli was great with traffic, machinery, livestock, and general surroundings. Once settled and trusting her person, she loads, baths, and clips well.
She does enjoy a good groom and a scratch in her own way once she knows and trusts you.
She is not suitable for novices and can be defensive in some situations, particularly around vets, the farrier, and injections, becoming anxious if she feels pressured or unsettled. She benefits from calm, patient handling and someone willing to continue building trust and confidence through groundwork and routine.
On the yard, Chilli can be mare-ish and opinionated. She may pin her ears, pull faces, or become rude around food/stable space, so requires sensible handling and clear boundaries. In the field she enjoys company and is generally lower in the herd.
A new owner should expect to allow time for her to adjust and establish a relationship.
Ideal home: an experienced, confident handler used to mares like her, who can offer consistency, routine, and a calm environment. She will thrive with someone who enjoys building a partnership from the ground up.
She can occasionally weave when stressed, although this has significantly improved in a quieter, consistent environment.
This is a very difficult sale and finding the right long-term home is the priority.
