Standing at 15.1hh and 4 years old, Calvin is a bay gelding with full Class 1 recorded breeding and a pedigree packed with proven performance lines. His sire, Caherlistrane Bay, is known for producing athletic, rideable ponies with great temperaments and natural jumping ability. Calvin’s dam is by Callow Rory, a stallion noted for his powerful movement and strong Connemara type, and out of a mare by Cong Admiral, another highly regarded stallion with a reputation for siring correct, kind, and competitive ponies. Calvin is very much his breeding—he has a lovely uphill build, three quality paces, and a bold, scopey jump. He’s been produced slowly and correctly, and is now confidently jumping around courses up to 1m at home, showing excellent form and plenty of ability to go higher. He moves beautifully, with an active trot and a balanced canter, and has all the raw ingredients to excel in eventing, show jumping, or dressage. What sets Calvin apart is not just his talent, but his attitude. He is a naturally willing horse with a kind, honest outlook. He’s brave, takes everything in stride, and always tries his best. He’s forward-going but never strong, responsive and soft in the contact, making him a really enjoyable and rideable young horse. He’s easy and straightforward to handle—good to shoe, box, catch, clip, and in traffic. He’s happy living in or out, settles well in new environments, and has a very sweet and affectionate nature in the yard. He has the brain and temperament to be brought on by an amateur but the quality and potential to interest professionals too.
