- Sad sale of our 13-year-old 16.2hh Thoroughbred all-rounder, Boycie.
Boycie isn’t your typical TB. We’ve owned him for the past three years, during which time he has been a fantastic step-up from ponies for my daughter. He has given her confidence, experience and plenty of enjoyable days out.
On the flat, Boycie schools nicely and is a pleasure to ride. He is very safe and straightforward, and my daughter regularly hacks him both bitless and bareback. He is equally happy hacking alone or in company and is sensible in open spaces.
Boycie enjoys a varied life. He is good on pleasure rides and out hunting, which he genuinely loves, and is hunted in a snaffle. He particularly enjoys cross country and is bold and genuine over XC fences. He will also do a tidy round of showjumping, although this is not his favourite job.
On the ground, Boycie is easy to handle and well mannered. He is good for the vet and farrier and is straightforward to manage day to day. He does need sedation for the dentist. He loads well, travels happily and will stand at the trailer all day. He is happy living in or out.
He is fully up to date with vaccinations, teeth, shoeing and worming. He passed a five-stage vetting when we bought him three years ago, and we have no reason to believe he wouldn’t pass one again. He has no health issues.
This is a genuinely sad sale, but my daughter now wants to move up to British Showjumping. While Boycie has a good jump, he is not a BS horse, and we feel it’s time for him to find another home where he can continue to be enjoyed as the fantastic all-rounder he is.
