- Machnos Dominator (Felix)
14.2hh 6yo 3/4 Welsh, 1/4 Oldenburg Black Gelding
Felix was bought as a winter project and I have had a fantastic time trail hunting him, he goes all day and has proven to be bold and brave crossing all sorts of country, happily jumping hedges, walls, rails and ditches. He is very good with hounds, stands at the meet and is a tough, sure footed little type.
Felix has been to numerous course hires, XC schooled, trips to the beach and lightly showjumped to 80cm so far. He is careful, genuine, not spooky and will jump off any stride, happy to help out his jockey. He has a massive stride for his size, easily making horse distances! He has never been over faced but has shown scope when trying the odd bigger fence at home.
He also loves his hacking - he is as good as gold in company and has babysat younger horses in traffic including farm machinery. In company he would be anybody’s ride. He hacks alone too but does sometimes need reassurance.
Felix is a kind and affectionate gelding who is easy to manage and has lived out for the majority of the time I have owned him. He is at his happiest with other horses and has been turned out with both mares and geldings. He is lovely to handle, shoe, clip and load. He has travelled in 7.5ts, 2 stallers and a trailer.
Whilst he moves very well and has the scope required to be a super competition pony, he does unfortunately have a nap in him and when pressured enough, he does have it in him to rear. This behaviour was not at all evident until his second hunter trial just a week ago (he was immaculately behaved at his first one!). Whilst I’m willing to work with a pony that bucks, I do draw a line at rearing hence him being advertised as a hunter or summer project rather than the ready to go competition pony I’d hoped to market him as!
He’d make a brilliant team chasing pony - there isn’t much of a scene for this up north unfortunately! In a home where he would mostly work in company I honestly don’t think you’d ever see the nappy side of him. If I could keep him as my hunter I absolutely would- he is the boldest horse or pony I have ridden and great fun!
Felix is fit and ready to go. Open to viewings/any vetting, he passed a vetting when I bought him in December. He is up to date on vaccinations and has recently had his teeth done.
Price negotiable for the right home for him.
