Perfect allrounder/first horse/mother-daughter share
Topaz is an 8 year old, 15.1hh Connie X mare. She has the kindest temperament both ridden and in the stable and is always looking to please.
On the flat, Topaz is extremely willing and eager to learn, she works in a consistent contact and is nice and light off the aids. She maintains lovely rhythm and balance and is understanding lateral work; I have found her to be a very quick learner.
Topaz loves to jump! She’s been to plenty of arena hires, xc schooling, show jumping, training shows and one day events. She’s the easiest horse I’ve ever jumped, literally anyone could jump her, she’s never once refused a fence with me. She maintains a nice rhythm to and away from a fence which gives you a really safe and trustworthy feeling. Her canter is very easy to adjust and she doesn’t take offence if you miss a stride, she’ll jump off absolutely anything and still try her best not to touch a pole. She’s ultra careful with her showjumping and has always gone clear/double clear wherever I’ve taken her. She’s not once looked at a filler with me.
For cross country, Topaz is just as bold and is completely unphased by ditches, steps, water or trekheners. I took her to a training event at Breckenbrough this week where she jumped round the 90 show jumping with ease and some of the 100 and novice fences round the cross country course. I believe she could very quickly move through the levels and could easily aim for badminton grassroots with scope to even go further. She would be ideal for a child coming off ponies as she rides very pony like or a small competitive adult. She is also happy to just steadily pop over the smaller fences so she could equally make a mother daughter share.
Out hacking, Topaz is very chilled. She’s happy to go out alone/in company, never nappy or spooky, and regularly hacks through fields so doesn’t get excited in open spaces. Good at opening gates and will stand quietly for you to get on absolutely anywhere. Topaz is good on the roads however she is wary of heavy vehicles.
In the stable and field she’s such a friendly little horse, always whinnies and is happy to see me. She’s not at all mareish I’ve never seen her put her ears back, whatever you’re doing with her she’s always so polite, either at home or when travelling away. Completely unbothered if she’s left in the field/stable/lorry alone.
Perfect to load and travel on any type of box/trailer, great for farrier. Stands like a rock to clip.
