Description: This is a very honest advert as circumstances have meant I cannot manage one of his medical conditions. Oliver is a 16.3 Shire x Cob, 17 years old. He is a gentleman on the ground and in the stable, is very polite but sometimes pulls faces but doesn’t do anything. He excels with hacking, he came from a hacking home and is bombproof on the roads and great in open spaces. Is a little ploddy in walk, but trot and canter he has a good bit of speed. I haven't taken him out by himself as of yet but I think he could go with a confident rider. He has been out with multiple horses and he likes to be at the back but can lead the ride as well. He is not fazed by going out with people on foot either. He can be used in the school, but needs a good bit of encouragement to go forwards. He could potentially be used for a bit of jumping but I haven't tried much of this with him. Great to load and has been out with geldings and mares previously with no issues in the field. Very respectful of fence lines as well. He is currently in a muzzle with the summer grass as he eats a lot and it has helped to keep the weight off him. I have only had him for 9 months, during that time I had to move yards which has made it difficult to manage some of his needs. He has uveitis in both eyes. This is all controlled with using a fly mask every time he is out of the stable, and wearing his goggles to go riding. He has had no flare ups with me or with his previous home. He also has gut balancer with all his meals too. Oliver has been found to have mild asthma by the vets recently, with a small crackling sound in the lungs accompanied with a dry cough and some laboured breathing. Unfortunately, I cannot change a lot of the management for this so would love to find somewhere who can provide him a dust free environment to eliminate these symptoms. At the moment he is on some medication to help with his asthma, this will not be needed long term when he is in the right environment. He was not on any medication that I was told about previously for coughing or breathing issues in his former home. He was used throughout the week on multiple types of hacking rides without issues. Oliver will come with all of his tack, head collar, uveitis goggles and a fly mask, rugs, and possibly other bits that he may need. If he is still on medication then this can be given over as well so he can finish the course when going into his new home. Open to offers on price as I would love to find him a great forever home.
