- For full loan - Hugo is known for his stunning good looks, and character. We have had him 3 years and now sadly outgrown; we kept him as couldn’t bear to let him go, but realised after a year he could do with more than the odd ride to keep his smart brain going and his weight in a good place (he loves food!), his talent needs putting to use. He’s a typical Welshie, more solid than dainty. He came to us with just dressage training but put his foot to Show Jumping with ease, and loves XC, and enjoys his jumping and water. He however doesn’t seem to like ditches, but with a confident rider he might well do, as seems to take on things with encouragement really well…Done a beach ride, his first visit to the beach, wasn’t sure of the waves, but then loved it! Would also be great for showing, and his brother won at HOYS one year. He’s not for a novice as can be strong, and would benefit from regular ground work as once he loves you and you have the respect, (which doesn’t take long) he’s such a lovely pony, but as with many horses he needs to know you are the boss. We took him to pony club rallies, competitions etc. He does really well, but can sometimes throw a buck, but not a nasty one. Has been to the gallops and loves this too. We think he sometimes can be stressed at shows, but we have done them and he places, just needs lots of reassurance and attention, takes confidence from the rider. He loves being with other ponies / horses, especially when going out or on hacks, and will want to be their best friend, but he will go it alone. In a field he’s had mixed, same and solo turnout…He loves being groomed, clipped, good with the dentist and farrier. Will answer any questions with honesty as want him to have his new best friend, and not passed around too much, my daughter adores him so will want to keep in touch and visit.
